Gastronomy

The meals served in the hotel’s restaurant are pure balm for body and soul. The carefully selected ingredients are supplied by a local organic farmer or from distributors in the region, always organic when possible. At Chesa Randolina we take flexibility literally: the daily special can be ordered to suit vegetarians or whole food diets.


The guest is faced with the task of choosing from an extensive selection of wines. More than 200 different wines from more than 150 wineries are offered. It is no wonder that not only the swallows (in Romansch: “las Randolinas”) are always so happy to return to Sils-Baselgia.

Cosy and friendly
A very good family-run hotel in a beautiful part of the country. Established in 1961, it's been well modernised and the rooms are comfortable. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, with a wonderful choice of cheeses, cold meats, fruit, pastries and cereals. Evening dining is good value if you're happy with the set menu (no a la carte available). Sils-Baselgia is car-free, which keeps it nice and quiet. The hotel has bicycles available free of charge and is part of the scheme offering free travel on all public transport in the Engadine if you stay more than two nights in the summer: this is worth a lot and covers cable cars and chair lifts as well as buses. The nearby walk in the Fex Valley is a must: classic Swiss mountains and meadows - we even spotted a rare gentian. Switzerland is not cheap at 2011 exchange rates, but Sils is somewhere you can still capture outdoor life as it's been lived for centuries, with all its romantic glory (when the sun shines).
